Day Trip to Berwick-on-Tweed

Date: Saturday 28th September 2024.    Cost: £18 

All the main ingredients for the perfect day out. Fresh air, sea and countryside, friendly folk, and rich history.

Don’t miss our trip to this charming town on the Scottish – English border. Explore its turbulent history and scenic river views. Walk along the Town Walls, the best-preserved Elizabethan fortifications in Europe, and discover the old prison cells, museums, and galleries. Or relax in one of the cosy cafĂ©s by the River Tweed, and enjoy the local delicacies and crafts.

Also included en route is a short visit to the Polish Map of Scotland at the Barony Castle Hotel at Eddleston

The International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight is an action packed festival that runs over 3 days on the Ayr seafront, featuring an air show on the day of our visit.

The Festival Village opening at noon includes food and drink stalls, aviation themed crafts, model and classic vehicle displays, a Rafale aircraft simulator, and an aviation and military museum zone.

To make the most of our day in Ayrshire, en route we will visit the Rabbie Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway which houses more than 5,000 Burns artefacts including handwritten manuscripts. Follow in Tam o’ Shanter’s footsteps to atmospheric Alloway Auld Kirk and over the Brig o’ Doon.
